Norah Catherine O’Leary is a highly-qualified and inspirational cello teacher who endeavours to raise the quality of teaching, challenge pupils and nurture enthusiasm towards music and artistic learning in general. Norah offers online cello lessons to students all over the world through the platform of Zoom, paying particular attention to preparation for online examinations.
Norah has an extensive subject knowledge in all areas of the cello and can bring to the table a historical element of learning from her experience in the early music scene. Highly motivated with a good sense of humour and ability to adapt to suit each individual, she is dedicated to promoting good progress, guiding her pupils towards reaching their fullest potential whilst enjoying every step along the way. Norah is committed to a structured lesson type which is adapted to each individual student’s needs and strengths. During her studies in Finland she gained a wealth of pedagogical skills but also an insight into the lack of ensemble playing opportunities for young musicians in other European countries when compared with that of England or Ireland. With this in mind Norah encourages students to participate in available orchestral and chamber music opportunities and supports students in the creation of their own ensembles.
Norah teaches privately in Buncrana in Co. Donegal (Ireland) also in a face-to-face manner (when possible and in compliance with Covid-19 restrictions).
